Home School

Homeschool Guidelines

Please be aware if you are planning to homeschool your child’s/children’s religious education, there are several requirements that need to be met:

  1. You must register your child/children with the Religious Education Department.
  2. You will be required to purchase and use the approved Archdiocesan curriculum in place at St. Theresa’s. (The appropriate grade level will be given to you at registration.)
  3. You will need to teach and review the Basic Knowledge Guidelines in place for each appropriate grade level.
  4. Your child will need to attend a meeting with their activity book on December 11, 2011 at 2PM.
  5. Your child will need to attend a meeting with their completed activity book on April 22, 2012 at 2PM.  Once we have the meeting, quiz, and activity book we will count your child as having completed the school year.

If your child/children are hoping to receive the following sacraments, in addition to the above, they have several more requirements:

  1. First Reconciliation & First Communion is commonly celebrated in the second grade.
  2. Your child must have two years of homeschool preparation for these sacraments.
  3. Your child must attend the two scheduled retreats.
  4. A parent must attend both retreats with their child.
  5. Confirmation is normally conferred at the end of tenth grade.
  6. Your child must have two years of homeschool preparation for this sacrament.
  7. Your child must attend the ten week Confirmation Preparation Class.
  8. Your child must attend the Confirmation weekend retreat.

All information will be kept in your child/children’s personal records here at the church. These records will assist us when your child/children are requesting the reception of their prospective sacraments.

Any questions or concerns should be directed to the appropriate Education Coordinator for your child/children. Thank you and we look forward to working closely with you and your family.

Yours in Christ,
Theresa Butorac
Director of Religious Education
