Homeschool Guidelines

Please be aware if you are planning to homeschool your child’s/children’s religious education, there are several requirements that need to be met:

  1. You must register your child/children with the Religious Education Department.
  2. You are required to purchase and use the approved Archdiocesan curriculum in place at St. Theresa’s. (The appropriate grade level will be given to you at registration.)
  3. You are required to teach and review the Basic Knowledge Guidelines in place for each appropriate grade level.
  4. Your child is required to attend two classes for review during the year. Dates for the 2014-2015 year are TBA.
  5. Your child’s completed activity book must be turned in at the end of the school year for us to count your child as having completed the school year.

If your child/children are hoping to receive the following sacraments, in addition to the above, they have several more requirements:

First Reconciliation & First Communion are commonly celebrated in the second grade.

  • Your child must have one year of homeschool or classroom preparation and attend all second grade classes to receive these sacraments.

Confirmation is normally conferred at the end of tenth grade.

  1. Your teen has to have two years of homeschool or classroom preparation for this sacrament.
  2. A parent must attend the October 18, 2014  Parent Class scheduled to be held at 11:00 AM.
  3. Your teen must attend the twelve weeks Confirmation Preparation Class (See Confirmation Class Schedule).
  4. Your teen must attend the overnight Confirmation weekend retreat dates TBA.

All information will be kept in your child/children’s personal records here at the church. These records will assist us when your child/children are requesting the reception of their prospective sacraments.

Any questions or concerns should be directed to the appropriate Education Coordinator for your child/children. Thank you and we look forward to working closely with you and your family.

Yours in Christ,

Theresa Butorac
